MANCHESTER, NH – On Friday, November 13, 2026, Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam will be kicking off our Vox Pop festival at Stark Brewing Company. Doors open at 7 and we will have a kick off open mic followed by the Indies Championship Slam! There is a $5 cover and this is an all-ages show. Our goal is to get 10 poets to run 3 rounds but there has been less enthusiasm than previous years. We're currently accepting 1 representative from each venue, to be chosen as the organizers see fit. We've announced $40 buy in and $400 cash prize.
The total time allotment for all three rounds is 7 minutes per competitor, so make sure you time your poems accordingly.
Poems must be original work of the performing poets. Props, costumes, animal acts, musical instruments, recorded audio, pyrotechnics, and the like are not allowed.
Time begins when the poet engages with the audience, at the assessment of the time keeper. This may include any talking, making noise, or engaging in a physical way. Exception: Content warnings given prior to a poem will not count against time. Poets are asked to take a few seconds following a content advisory to both allow audience members to depart and allow timekeepers to reset if they began the timer.
Accessibility Information:
The entrance to our show is at the back of the building with no stairs to enter the space. There is a ramp through the main bar for access to the ADA compliant bathrooms. For any other accessibility questions message our page or ask a staff member at the show.
About Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam:
Slam Free Or Die @ Stark Brewing Company is a series of open mic nights for poets and spoken-word artists every Thursday night in Manchester, NH. There is an open mic every night and poetry slams are also held several times a month. Doors open and sign-ups begin at 7pm with open mic beginning at 8pm. Featured poets and slams follows the open mic. Come and enjoy the delicious food and beverages at Stark Brewing Company! There is a $5 cover charge. There is plenty of free parking at the rear of the building (facing the river) and you can feel free to use the entrance on that side.
