About this Event
Draw something and learn something with us over May Bank Holiday as part of our Drawing the Renaissance series, suitable for beginner and experienced artists alike!
The session will be split into 2 parts:
- The first 20 minutes will focus on talking through the fascinating history of these paintings; their creation, how tapestries were made from them in the 16th Century, how they came to be with us today in the V&A and surviving the English Civil War after which so much of our artwork was lost.
- For the final 1hr 30mins we will start with some group exercises to warm up before taking on some longer drawings individually. We'll be on hand to guide and encourage newer artists with suggestions and help on your sketches and can provide materials for those who do not have their own. Please select whether you'd like materials included at checkout; we will bring paper, drawing boards, a range of graphite, white chalk and some colour pencils (these are the only allowed materials in the V&A).
🌍 Located at the V&A in London. Meet in the corner of the Dome room (with the big circular information desk in it) by the Cromwell Road entrance.
Concessions are available for those in receipt of pension credit, universal credit, full-time carers and Armed Forces Compensation Scheme/AFIP. Enter code DRAW30 at checkout to purchase and contact us if you have any eligibility queries.
FAQ's - Please find answers to FAQ's below, especially if you are bringing your own materials as the V&A have rules about what you can and can't draw with. We are very grateful to the V&A for allowing private tour groups and art sessions so ask all attendees to abide by their guidelines so that we are allowed back! If you have any other questions about our events please don't hesitate to get in touch, we will try to respond within 24 hours, or 48 hours over the weekend.
