This six week course is designed to get you comfortable and familiar with a sewing machine, and to build skills and techniques. We'll start with basics like threading and troubleshooting the machine, and sewing in straight lines, and gradually build skills including pockets, hems, zips, piping, binding and many more. These techniques will be incorporated into projects with increasing skill levels, including a cushion, simple elasticated shorts and a complex bag that really builds your skills. You don't need to bring your own sewing machine, but if you have one you are welcome to do so, as it makes sense to learn on the machine you will be using most.Two and a half hour sessions, over 6 weeks.
Basic materials and fabrics will be provided, but you may prefer to choose and bring your own fabrics to make items to your taste. This can be discussed at the first session.
