About this Event
Bring someone you like. Paint them badly.
Grab your mate, partner, spouse, sibling, mum, work wife or special someone, and join us for a brilliantly unserious evening of portrait painting, drinks and questionable artistic interpretations. No painting experience required. In fact, that might make it better.
For this edition of Sip & Sketch, you’ll sit opposite your chosen painting partner and create portraits of each other using acrylic paint on canvas board.
I’ll guide you through the process with some simple prompts and tips to get you started, but this isn’t about creating a perfect likeness. We’re aiming for bold colours, wonky proportions, accidental masterpieces and portraits you’ll hopefully want to hang somewhere at home… even if it’s the downstairs loo.
What’s included
Your ticket includes:
- A two-hour guided Paint Your Mate session
- Your own canvas board to paint and take home
- Use of acrylic paints, brushes, palettes and all other materials
- A complimentary house wine, soft drink, tea or coffee
- Plenty of creative encouragement – absolutely no artistic ability necessary
We’ll also take a break halfway through for drinks, portrait inspections and then finish the night with the big reveal of how your mate has chosen to interpret your face.

Paint Your Mate works best when booked with someone you’d like to paint – and who will paint you back!
You’ll each need your own ticket, as every guest receives their own canvas and materials.
Coming as a larger group? Absolutely – book together and we’ll seat you together where possible.
Make a night of it
Optional nibbles can be pre-ordered when booking and will be ready for you to enjoy during our halfway break.
Pre-ordering is recommended so the café can have everything ready for the evening. Call or email the cafe for food bookings
Who is it for?
Everyone.
You absolutely do not need to be able to draw or paint. The aim is to switch off, have a drink, try something creative and leave with a completely unique portrait of yourself – for better or worse.
Come with your best mate. Bring your other half. Paint your mum. Bring your sister. Make it a Galentine’s date.
