Every culture carries its songs. The lullabies that sent us to sleep, the melodies that marked celebrations, the tunes we hum without knowing why.'The Songs We Carry' is a participatory session inviting people from different cultural backgrounds to share and learn songs, lullabies, or traditional dances presented by song sharers. Through guided warm-up activities and a step-by-step group learning, everyone in the room sings and moves together.
No musical experience required. No pressure to perform. Just a memory, and the willingness to share or receive it. By the end of the session, you’ll carry home a few songs from different outskirts of the world - and know a little more about the people behind them.
"The Songs We Carry" is inspired by the initiative Share a Folk Song, hosted by Anouk Vinders at Open Amare in the Hague.
