Sing & Play: A 2-Day Artist Immersion

Join guitarist, composer and music coach Eliane Delage and international touring singer, guitarist and songwriter Eliane Amherd for an intimate two-day immersion designed for musicians who want to become more confident, expressive and personal when singing and accompanying themselves.
You may already know the chords.
You may already know the song.
But what happens when you stop trying to reproduce the recording and start discovering your own way of performing it?
This is more than learning to sing and play at the same time.
Over two immersive days, we’ll work on the relationship between your voice, instrument, rhythm, arrangement and performance.
You’ll explore how to:
• Sing and play with greater independence and confidence
• Create an accompaniment that supports your voice
• Find the right key, feel and approach for a song
• Simplify or reshape guitar parts when needed
• Develop dynamics, groove and musical expression
• Move beyond copying the original recording
• Discover your own interpretation of a song
• Become more comfortable performing in front of others
Bring a song. Leave with an interpretation.
Participants will prepare a song in advance and receive guidance before the immersion so we can spend our time together going deeper into the music.
This is a hands-on experience, not a lecture.
You’ll sing. You’ll play. You’ll experiment. You’ll receive individual feedback. And you’ll have the opportunity to learn by watching other musicians go through the same process.
The group is intentionally kept small so everyone can receive personal attention.
Who is this for?
This immersion is for adult musicians who sing and accompany themselves — or want to.
You might be a guitarist beginning to sing, a singer learning to accompany yourself, a singer-songwriter, or an experienced musician who wants to become a more expressive and confident performer.
You do not need to be a professional singer or advanced guitarist.
You do need enough familiarity with your instrument to prepare and play a song.
Your Artist Coaches
Eliane Delage
Eliane Delage is a NYC-based guitarist, composer, author, music coach and longtime educator who has spent decades helping adult musicians move beyond the practice room and into real musical experiences.
She is the founder and director of EDGE — Eliane Delage Guitar Ensemble, now in its 13th year, and has performed at Carnegie Hall and throughout New York City.
Her teaching emphasizes musicianship, confidence, community and learning by actually making music.
Eliane Amherd
A graduate of The New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York, Eliane Amherd is an international touring singer, guitarist and songwriter who has performed in 27 countries.
Her career has taken her to stages and festivals around the world, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Festival da Jazz St. Moritz, Ascona Jazz Festival, Mondo.NYC and international festivals throughout Asia, Europe, Africa and South America.
She brings extensive experience as both a vocalist and instrumentalist — and a deeply personal approach to interpreting songs.
