Balancing humor, friendship, and melancholy, the story reflects on loyalty and the inevitability of change. Directed by George Roy Hill, the film became a cultural touchstone. It won four Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Song (“Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head”), and Best Score.
