What are Southwest Oregon entrepreneurs building right now? Come see for yourself—and meet the people behind the ideas.
Silicon Marsh Demo Open Mic is a casual showcase and networking gathering. Founders will each have approximately 5–7 minutes to share something tangible from their work: a product, prototype, sample, website, app, process, design, or concept they’re testing. They might demonstrate how something works, explain what they’ve learned so far, or ask the room for feedback, expertise, introductions, or potential collaborators.
Want to present? Just show up and put your name on the list, open mic style—like karaoke! You’re also welcome to attend, listen, ask questions, and meet other people building Southwest Oregon’s innovation community.
How is a demo different from a mini pitch?
A mini pitch usually makes a concise case for a business. A demo gives people a closer look at the work itself. Show how something works, walk through a customer use case, explain what you’re testing, and start a conversation about your next step.
This is a community showcase, not a pitch competition. You do not need a finished product, revenue, or a polished investor deck to participate.
How should I prepare to present?
Plan a 5–7-minute demonstration that answers a few simple questions:
- Who are you, and what are you building?
- Who is it for, or what problem does it address?
- What can you show us? Bring a physical sample or prototype, or use screenshots, photos, a short video, or a live walkthrough.
- What have you learned, and what are you working on next?
- What feedback, connection, or support would be useful right now?
Slides are optional. We’ll have access to a TV screen with an HDMI connection, and SCDC will provide a laptop for shared use if needed. Practice explaining your work in plain language for a general audience. If you plan a live technology demo, bring screenshots or a short backup video in case the demonstration does not work on the spot.
Please prepare for a public setting. Share only information, materials, and details you’re comfortable making public—things you consider open for sharing and that would not require a nondisclosure agreement (NDA). If part of your work is confidential, show a public-facing example or describe the problem you’re solving without disclosing protected details.
