Lettering Effects Workshop with Ged Palmer at The Art Workers' Guild
After a series of sold-out workshops in 2024, award-winning lettering artist Ged Palmer is excited to announce a new series of workshops at the historic Art Workers' Guild in Central London.
This workshop focuses on developing "Lettering Effects" in the traditional signwriting method. This workshop is aimed and intermediate to advanced levels, especially those who have come to the 'Block', 'Casual' or 'Script' workshop that Ged also offers. It covers ten different effects that can be added to 'dress up' lettering and give them impact and eye appeal. Past participants have come from backgrounds in scenic art, graphic design, calligraphy, type design, illustration, and fine arts.
Workshop Details Students will learn and refine their brush lettering techniques under expert guidance. The workshop will cover five casual styles and one script style, with additional variations demonstrated. Participants will also have the opportunity to design their own hand-painted sign, exploring layout, color theory, and effects. Whether for personal projects or a career in lettering, this workshop is a great way to expand your skills and creative potential.

"I feel like this workshop has given me a solid foundation in the core fundamentals like body position, how to hold the brush, layout basics, the basic strokes, block lettering, etc. It feels like I've got a crack in the door to this huge museum of craft and a path I can follow through it, whereas before, I felt too overwhelmed to even enter. 5/5 STARS" - Trenna Sharpe, Graphic Designer
"Ged's workshop was a delight to attend - very comprehensive and engaging environment. I learned so much about paint, how to paint and much, much more. 5/5 STARS" Liam Sparkes, Tattoo Artist
