About this Event

A Quiet Day led by Martin Wroe
18th October 2025
The Poem which is The Prayer Which is Your Life
Each day is a stranger
Waiting to be introduced
Each day is a prayer
That's waiting to be said

Some days are a psalm holding a poem. Others are a poem waiting to become a prayer. This is a day to look at the poem that is your life and find the prayer it carries inside. A day to think about poems and prayers and psalms. To read them and hear them, to write them and be surpirsed by them.

Martin is married to Meg, a painter, and together they have been raised by three children. He fell into journalism while studying theology and ended up on the staff of the Independent and later the Observer. He has had longtime collaborations with the Greenbelt Arts Festival, the human rights NGO Amos Trust and the rock band U2. He contributes to BBC Radio 4's Thought for the Day and accidentally became a volunteer vicar in the Church of England. His most recent book of poems is Julian Of Norwich's Teabag and, with Malcom Doney, wrote Hold On, Let Go, a collection of daily readings about keeping your feet on the sacred earth and taking off. At the same time.

We look forward to welcoming you to our urban oasis. The day will include welcome coffee and pastries, lunch and an afternoon pot of tea and cake. Or maybe book to stay overnight in one of our lovely en-suite bedrooms and make the most of taking some time aside.

Any non-chargeable cancellations should be made at least 7 days prior to the day of arrival. A 100% cancellation fee will be made for any late cancellations or non-arrivals.

Kindly note that any refunds will exclude Eventbrite and or administration fees.
