That is the reason why I got involved with the organization who fights to reduce-ABOLISH our enormous property taxes, I am one of the admins for Johnson county chapter.

The biggest issue in the first place is that it is calculated based on the property value and not the actual services that we are getting. Our property tax tripled in 12 years and keeps going up at least $200-300 per year, this is substantial. Yet we still end up paying school enrollment fees, and half of the taxes collected already goes towards schools. This is not the post for a heated discussion, this is a call for help for senior citizens, for people on fixed income, for young families, for widows and widowers, for everyone who works hard to keep their houses! As a realtor I also see that it has become next to impossible for many people to afford the properties due to high property taxes, high interest rates, high overall house prices. We have to take back what we spent so many years paying for, our houses! Too many have already lost them and many more are about to... I will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, October 28 3-5p.m.
