Don't Miss the Sierra Nevada Alliance Conservation Conference!
The 2026 Sierra Nevada Conservation Conference invites participants to explore how a deeper relationship with the Sierra can strengthen conservation, stewardship, and community action. Inspired by keynote speaker Kat Anderson’s work honoring Indigenous knowledge and the reciprocal relationships between people and the natural world, the conference will examine the many ways we come to know, care for, and belong to this region. Through presentations, conversations, art, research, and shared learning, attendees will consider how cultural knowledge, community engagement, equitable access, environmental education, advocacy, and hands-on stewardship can help us move beyond simply protecting nature toward living in a more attentive and reciprocal relationship with it.
Goal and Intended Outcome: By the end of the day, participants will leave with stronger regional connections, practical ideas they can apply in their communities and organizations, and a renewed understanding of their relationship with the Sierra. The conference aims to turn that learning into action by supporting community-led conservation, volunteering locally, expanding access and belonging, advancing thoughtful policy, and strengthening the collaboration needed to care for the Sierra’s lands, waters, wildlife, and communities for generations to come.
