Shuffle Dance Classes in San Mateo
Shuffle dance began in Melbourne, Australia in the late 1980s, growing out of the club scene and the energy of EDM music. Over time, it spread far beyond clubs and became popular at festivals and dance communities around the world.
Shuffle is often celebrated as an inclusive and expressive dance style — one that encourages freedom, individuality, confidence, and movement without judgment. It allows dancers to connect with the music they love in a powerful and personal way.
This energetic street dance style built around fast footwork, coordination, flowing movement, is a dynamic and fun to learn, making it a great choice for students who want a high-energy dance style that combines rhythm, fitness, creativity, and personal expression.

- 8PM Thursdays Intermediate Level
- 6PM Fridays Beginner Level

What You Will Learn
During the Beginner Level class, we will guide you through essential shuffle steps and techniques, including:
- Fundamental shuffle footwork
- Rhythm and musicality
- Coordination and timing
- Smooth transitions
- Flowing movement
- Confidence and self-expression
- How to connect movement to the beat
During our Intermediate Level class, will guide you through more complex combinations, and dynamic transitions. This class focuses on developing greater control, musicality, stamina, and confidence so you can move with more speed, style, and freedom.

- Develop faster, sharper, and more controlled footwork
- Learn more complex combinations, patterns, and transitions
- Improve rhythm, musicality, coordination, and stamina
- Challenge yourself with faster tracks and varied tempos
- Develop smoother transitions and stronger movement quality
- Explore freestyle and personal style with greater confidence
- Put it all together through dynamic combinations and energetic movement
- Keep progressing in a fun, high-energy environment
*Prerequisite: Completion of our Shuffle Beginner Level class consistently for approximately 2–3 months (depending on your individual pace of learning), or a solid understanding of foundational Shuffle steps (such as the Running Man, T-Step, Charleston, Kick-Step, and basic transitions). Advancement may also be based on teacher recommendation. This is the perfect class to build confidence, flow, and your Shuffle vocabulary!
All Classes are for teens ages 12+ and adults.
