Be in the room. The Carolina Beach Town Council meets Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 1121 N. Lake Park Blvd — and every regular meeting has a public-comment period. Here's why it matters: Carolina Beach — population about 6,400 — runs five Flock cameras that were searched roughly three million times in a single quarter, led by out-of-state police, with the FBI and Charlotte-Mecklenburg among the searchers. 51 Carolina Beach residents asked the Council to take them down, in writing and in person, and the Council hasn't acted. New Hanover County canceled its contract on Sept. 8; Carolina Beach is a separate government that runs its own cameras — only the Town Council can remove them.
What you can do:
Attend and speak — arrive ~15 minutes early to sign up for public comment at Town Hall, state your name and address at the podium, and keep it to one clear ask.
The ask: cancel the Town's Flock contract and take the cameras down.

Bring a neighbor. Numbers in the room move a council.
