Nestled near Ramanagara, about 55 km from Bengaluru, the Sholay Hills Trek—also called Ramadevara Betta—blends natural beauty, history, and cinematic nostalgia. The 3 km round trip takes 2–3 hours and is an easy-to-moderate climb with 350–450 steps leading to the ancient Sri Pattabhirama Temple at the summit, making it ideal for beginners and families. From the top, trekkers enjoy sweeping views of Ramanagara’s rugged granite hills, famously featured in the iconic Bollywood film *Sholay*, earning it the nickname “Sholay Betta.”
Steeped in legend, the hill is believed to have hosted Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana during their exile. The thousand-year-old temple houses beautifully carved idols of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman from a single stone. Visitors can also see remnants of a fort wall attributed to Kempegowda and explore the nearby Ramadevarabetta Vulture Sanctuary, home to endangered Long-billed and Egyptian vultures.
