Shipbourne, Ightham Mote & Dunks GreenGuided Group Walk
Join us for a 6 mile countryside walk from Shipbourne to Dunks Green, passing the historic Ightham Mote along the way and exploring some of the beautiful countryside of the Kent Weald.
This route takes us through a lovely mix of woodland, fields, quiet country lanes and picturesque villages, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the surrounding countryside. We’ll set off from Shipbourne, make our way towards the historic Ightham Mote before continuing through the countryside to Dunks Green, taking in the peaceful rural landscape along the way.
To round off the walk, we can enjoy a festive drink at The Chaser in Shipbourne, the perfect opportunity to warm up, relax and enjoy a little Christmas cheer with the group.
It’s a lovely opportunity to explore some of Kent’s historic villages and countryside, with a festive finish to bring everyone together.
Please feel free to wear Christmas hats or jumpers if you wish
The walk
Starting in Shipbourne, we’ll head out into the surrounding countryside, following a mixture of footpaths, woodland trails and quiet country lanes towards Ightham Mote, a beautiful medieval manor house tucked away in the Kent countryside.
From there, we’ll continue towards Dunks Green, enjoying the rolling fields, wooded paths and peaceful rural scenery that make this part of Kent so special, before completing our circular route back to Shipbourne.
At around 6 miles, this is a great walk for those looking to enjoy a relaxed countryside adventure without committing to a full day’s hike. There will be plenty of opportunities to take in the views, enjoy the surroundings and have a chat along the way.
And, of course, no festive walk would be complete without the option of a Christmas drink at The Chaser in Shipbourne afterwards!

Our mixed group walks are open to everyone.
Whether you’re already a regular walker, new to the group, coming on your own or simply looking for a good excuse to get out into the countryside, you’re very welcome. Around 80% of our members come to our walks on their own, and it is one of the things people love most about being part of the group.
You don’t need to know anyone before you arrive. Just bring your walking boots, enjoy the scenery and we’ll take care of the rest.

🌄 Countryside paths
🍽️ Please bring enough food and water for the walk. We recommend bringing at least 1.5 litres of water and a packed lunch.
🐕 Dogs are very welcomed as long as they are on lead.
🚽 Toilet available in the pub or enroute as nature toilets!
What’s included: A guided 6 mile countryside walk led by a qualified walk leader, exploring Shipbourne, Dunks Green and the surrounding area with a friendly mixed group.
Your walk leader
Your walk is led by Jenn, founder of MJ Outdoor Adventures. She leader is a fully trained Lowland Leader with an enhanced DBS and outdoor first aid training, as well as qualifications in nutrition, wellness and female health. She works as a full time walk leader around the country for corporate, charity and community groups. MJ Outdoor Adventures is her passion project and she adores building this community. Your back marker is Lisa, a fully trained full time lowland leader with a passion for history and maps.

Before you book
By booking this event, you confirm that you have read the event information and understand that this is an outdoor countryside walk which may include uneven or muddy ground and changing weather conditions. Please come prepared with suitable footwear and clothing for the conditions on the day. The route and timings may be adjusted if necessary for safety, weather or ground conditions. Our booking terms and cancellation policy apply to all bookings.
If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we know not to wait for you at the start point.
Cancellation policy (as per T&C’s)
• More than 30 days before the activity – 100% refund (excluding any external costs incurred by MJ Outdoor Adventures such as third-party providers, admin costs or accommodation).
• 30 days or less before the activity – no refund. Standard half-day walks (non-challenge events) may be transferred to another date. A promo code will be issued which expires 3 months from the date of issue.
• Challenge events, charity events, tours or activities involving external providers cannot be refunded or transferred.
• Less than 72 hours before the activity – bookings cannot be refunded or transferred.
