Join Martyn on the 21st March for a Shim Sham Workshop! Learn this classic routine danced at social dances all over the world. Originally a tap dance routine choreographed by Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant. In the 1930s after many performances at venues across Harlem Dancers, singers and musicians would come together to perform The Shim Sham.
Lindy hoppers started dancing the Shim Sham at the Savoy ballroom. In the 1980s Frankie Manning created a version of the Shim Sham for Swing Dancers.
Over the 2 hour workshop we'll learn the routine, practice it in social settings to build your confidence to dance it at our Social dance on 27th March at the Hive.
Seasoned Shim Shammer? No problem! Martyn will give you some awesome variations to add to your repertoire!
