About this Event
The workshop will include:
Rubbing and rolling prepared paper to make kami-ito (Paper thread)
Cutting and preparing own samples
ussing konnayaku pasted paper to make an embossed sample
At the end of the day you can use your own kit to weave, knit, knot, crochet or sew with your thread
Participants will need to bring their own cutting mat, knife and metal rule and kit for experimenting with the thread you produce.
In addition if you have any Indian wood block stamps or something with a textured surface that can be used to emboss the paper please bring these along as well.
What to bring
- cutting mat
- sharp scalpel blade or craft blade
- metal edged ruler
- "kit" for sampling with your thread - this could be knitting needles, a cardboard frame for weaving, sewing kit, or crochet hook
- If you have any Indian wood blocks stamps or something with a textured surface that can be used to emboss the paper, please bring these along as well
- coffee tea and biscuits will be provided - but not lunch. There are plenty of shops nearby at Clapham Junction, or bring along a packed lunch
