After her family was forced out of Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge when she was an infant, filmmaker Kalyanee Mam has spent much of her life finding her way back home.As she has earned — and ultimately let go of — Western conceptions of success and achievement, Kalyanee has found herself returning again and again to the kinds of community, the ways of being and relating, that afford her a cultural, bodily, historical, and spiritual connection to the land. In Taste of the Land, we join Kalyanee revisiting sites of personal and familial significance as she explores the many layers she has shed in growing her own sense of identity and belonging.
