About this Event
Designed and curated by University of the Arts London (UAL) Foundation Graphic Design students, the exhibition brings together letterforms inspired by the market, from hand-painted signs and shop fronts to food packaging, fabrics, graffiti, colour, and the people who work and shop here. Through observation, students have designed new alphabets that reflect the visual language and atmosphere of the area. The work displayed includes a typeface designed collectively for Shepherd’s Bush, animated lettering that brings the type to life, and individual alphabets showing different students’ responses to the Market. Together, these works hope to show how letters can communicate place, culture, and identity.
All welcome – free entry, booking not essential.
Open daily 10:30am - 4:30pm

Get involved
The exhibition also invites visitors to take part. Market-goers are encouraged to design their own letters in response to the Market, adding their voice to works displayed. We invite you to take a closer look at the market and the lettering that already surrounds you.
