Shelter's Stride With Pride - 5k walk in Manchester

To all the LGBTQ+ community, friends, family and allies!

Join us on World Homelessness Day to recognise the impact of the housing emergency on the LGBTQ+ community and raise money for Shelter's Stride For Pride, as we embark on a 5k walk with pride in Manchester City Centre. Together we will collectively walk 1000+ miles in solidarity with the LBTQ+ community.

Our Walk Route will feature:

1. Meeting at Castlefield Urban Heritage Park
2. Walking through Spinningfields Square's, which recently made a 22-piece History Trail exploring the people and cultural movements that have helped shape Manchester's LGBTQ+ Legacy so far
3. Walking past Church House - the site of the first North-Western Homosexual Law Reform Committee meeting which campaigned to decriminalise homosexuality in 1967
4. Striding through Gay Village and Sackville Gardens, witnessing historic buildings, monuments and artwork commemorating the LGBTQ+ community's coming together and persistent thriving
5. A post-event celebration social bringing together LGBTQ+ community groups at Nell's Pizza (Kampus Venue)

Newcomers and solo walkers are always welcome! If you are bringing your dog, they are most welcome but please have them on a lead at all times.

Please bring:

• Weather appropriate clothing
• Water bottle
• Pride flags and banners
