We understand that grief is a tender and painful journey, and that loss can be experienced in many ways – from early miscarriage to the death of a baby or child. While nothing can ease the ache of loss, we believe it can sometimes bring comfort to come together with others who have walked a similar path.
With this in mind, we would like to invite you to Shared Memories. This will be a simple, quiet gathering – a space to pause, to reflect, and to remember. The day will be woven
around children’s storybooks, and will include moments of storytelling, gentle music, crafts, and time for quiet reflection. Through these small acts, we will hold in our hearts the children we have loved and lost.
You are warmly welcome to come on your own, or as a family. We know that grief touches siblings too, so activities for children will be available in an adjacent room, designed especially with them in mind.
The day will be supported by staff from Maternity, the Neonatal Unit, Paediatrics, Bradford Hospitals Charity and the SPaRC
team (Spiritual, Pastoral and Religious Care, formerly Chaplaincy).
Some of the staff you may have met during your time in hospital will be there, available to offer support or simply to share a friendly hello. If you wish, you are welcome to bring photographs or small memento of your child to place on our memory table. After the service, we invite you to stay for refreshments, with time to sit and talk with others or to find a quiet moment for yourself.
Members of the team will also be available for anyone
who would like more personal support. This is a gentle, non-religious service open to all – whether you hold a particular faith or none.
You are free to take part in whatever way
feels right for you. Some parents also like to contribute by reading a poem or sharing a short reflection; if this is something you would like to do, please let us know.
