In Person Workshop
Participants in this workshop will be making shamanic rawhide rattles, including decoration, as well as other shamanic tools (such as smudge fans, amulets, medicine bags, etc), as they are guided by Spirit.
We will journey on Friday night to obtain instructions from our spirit allies on design and use of the rattles and tools, and begin constructing them. Participants may bring personal items for the altar and feathers, beads, bells, leather or other items for their craft work. Rawhide for rattles and some other supplies will be provided.
Because our allies and other helpers are guiding us through our journey work, no two rattles will be alike. Participants have made bird rattles, scorpion rattles, moon rattles, and many designs defying description! Likewise the other tools made will be unique to each person. Bekki will be guiding the process to help you manifest the vision the spirits give you. Similar rattles, bought in a store, are worth $50 – $200, or more. Even people with no artistic experience have produced exceptionally beautiful rattles with a very fine sound.
Bekki will also be available to teach peyote stitch and several other types of bead work traditionally used for decoration on rattles and shamanic tools. Bekki is happy to advise you on necessary supplies.
Experience with journey work is required for this workshop. If you have not taken a basic journeying class with Bekki, please contact her concerning your previous journeying experience.
Bekki Shining Bearheart is an intuitive who has been guided by her relationship with Mother Earth from a very early age. She began studying metaphysics at age 14, including Astrology, Tarot and various methods of healing. She has been practicing and teaching shamanic healing since the early 1980s. Her degrees are in Art and Art Education; she continues a lifelong involvement in the arts by crafting, and teaching others to craft, shamanic tools and music. She is also a licensed massage therapist in Ohio, specializing in Structural Therapy. She is a minister of the Church of Earth Healing.
