About this Event
This pilot showcase of our new look Youth Theatre Training Programme is the outcome of a 12 week journey shaped through training, discussion, improvisation, and Intermission Youth’s techniques. It is a bold ensemble piece where Shakespeare meets the world young people are living in now.
Moving through school corridors, street corners, dream states, digital spaces, and fractured memory, the work explores identity, pressure, love, jealousy, power, violence, visibility, and the need to be seen. Classical text sits alongside remixed scenes and contemporary language, asking what happens when young people take stories that were never written with them in mind and make them speak to now.
At the heart of the piece is a school world shaped by systems, labels, and expectation. From there, the work opens out into Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Othello, and The Tempest, not as old set texts, but as live material that still speaks to relationships, rivalry, masculinity, visibility, survival, and voice.
It is Shakespeare remixed through the lens of now. A reflection of pressure and possibility, and of young people finding their voice.
