Whether you're ready to buy now or still a year or more away, understanding the process is one of the most important first steps toward homeownership.
Join the San Francisco Housing Development Corporation (SFHDC) and our good friends at Tri Counties Bank for an engaging, in-person Homebuyer Education Workshop designed to make the homebuying process clear, practical, and easier to navigate.
During this HUD-approved workshop, our housing professionals will break down the homebuying journey in plain language, including:
• Understanding your homebuyer readiness
• Budgeting, credit, savings, and debt
• How lenders evaluate mortgage applications
• Mortgage options and the loan process
• Shopping for and working with lenders and real estate professionals
• Down payment assistance and affordable homeownership programs
• The steps from pre-approval through closing
• Protecting and maintaining your investment after purchase
NEW: SFHDC Down Payment Assistance
Participants will also learn about multiple down payment assistance programs including SFHDC's & Tri Counties Bank new Down Payment Assistance Program, offering up to $15,000 (3% of purchase price) for qualifying homebuyers purchasing in San Francisco, San Mateo, or Contra Costa County.
Homeownership isn't one-size-fits-all. We'll help you understand the options, resources, and steps that may work for your goals, whether you're ready now, preparing for the next 3–6 months, or building a longer-term plan.
Participants who successfully complete the full workshop will receive a Homebuyer Education Certificate of Completion.
