Every Queensland manufacturing workplace deserves to be safe, respectful and free from harassment. Sexual harassment and sex or gender-based harassment are recognised workplace health and safety risks that can cause psychological and physical harm, disrupt teams, damage productivity and expose businesses to legal and reputational risk.
Since 1 March 2025, Queensland persons conducting a business or undertaking, including employers, must prepare and implement a written prevention plan where a risk of sexual harassment or sex or gender-based harassment has been identified, and control measures are needed. A prevention plan is not just a complaints policy; it is a practical risk management tool that helps businesses prevent harm before it occurs.
Manufacturing Skills Queensland, in partnership with Workhaven, is offering a Sexual Harassment Prevention workshop designed specifically to help Queensland manufacturers understand what is required, identify workplace-specific risks and take practical steps to meet their obligations.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
- Understand your duties and the steps required to prepare, implement and review a prevention plan.
- Identify the real risks in your workplace, including risks linked to work processes, workplace culture, site layout, shift patterns, power imbalances, customers, contractors and work-related events.
- Develop a plan that is practical to implement, meaningful for workers and clear about expected behaviours, reporting options and response processes.
- Strengthen prevention measures across all work settings, including production floors, offices, off-site work, training, work events and interactions with third parties.
