Halloween should be fun for every child.For many neurodivergent children and individuals with sensory differences, traditional Halloween events can be overwhelming. Loud music, flashing lights, fog machines, frightening decorations, large crowds, and even the treats being handed out can create barriers that make it difficult for some families to participate.
Jackson Community Care Alliance (JCCA) is excited to partner with AllSkate to create a different kind of Halloween experience: a Sensory Friendly Trunk-or-Treat designed with inclusion in mind.
Our event will feature trunks without scary decorations, flashing lights, fog machines, or loud noises. We are also working to provide alternatives such as dye-free candy and non-food treats so more children can participate in a way that works for them.
This event is especially meaningful to us because it is JCCA’s first community event as a nonprofit organization.
JCCA was created to support neurodivergent individuals and their families by breaking down barriers, building connections, and creating opportunities to participate in their community. This trunk-or-treat is just the beginning.
