Ventura County Ballet presents a Sensory Friendly Performance of The Nutcracker

Created to offer a relaxed and inclusive theater experience, this special performance welcomes individuals with autism, PTSD, and other sensory, physical, or cognitive challenges to enjoy the holiday magic of The Nutcracker ballet.
What makes this a sensory Friendly peformance?
Guests are invited to be themselves in a relaxed, inclusive environment.
- Shorter Performance: Enjoy a slightly modified version of The Nutcracker, perfect for shorter attention spans.
- Relaxed Atmosphere: Be yourself in a warm, welcoming, and judgement-free environment. Tablets and other devices with headphones are allowed.
- Soft Lighting: House lights stay on at a low level so you can see and move easily.
- Lower Volume: Sound levels of the beautiful Tchaikovsky score are softened. *
- Freedom of Movement: You are free to vocalize and move about in the theater and enter and exit whenever you need a break.
- Quiet Zones: Dedicated break areas are available for you throughout the theater.
- Supportive Staff: Trained volunteers and staff are ready to assist you throughout the show.
*This sensory friendly performance does not have a live orchestra.
