UNDERSTAND YOUR SENSORY WORLDHave you ever wondered why certain sounds, textures, movements, environments or everyday demands seem to affect you or your child so much?
Perhaps you’ve read lots about sensory processing but still find yourself thinking:
“But what does this actually mean for my child?”
“Why do some strategies work brilliantly one day and not the next?”
“Could sensory differences be contributing to tiredness, overwhelm or difficulties with everyday activities?”
💚 This workshop is about helping you make sense of YOUR sensory profile… not simply learning about sensory processing.
I’m offering a full-day, small-group Sensory Assessment Workshop, where you will work through the Sensory Thumbprint® Assessment for yourself or a child, with guidance from me as an experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist and SEN parent.
What makes this different?
Rather than simply providing a list of sensory strategies, we’ll take time to explore:
✨ Your individual sensory profile: what you notice, seek, avoid or find difficult
✨ Sensory modulation: why the same sensory experience can affect us differently at different times
✨ Sensory discrimination: how we notice and interpret sensory information
✨ Sensory-motor differences: and how these can affect everyday activities
✨ Sensory fatigue and overwhelm: including some of the less obvious signs that can be missed
✨ What your profile might mean in real life: at home, school, work or in the community
✨ Practical support: considering what might actually be appropriate for you or your child, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all list of strategies.
💚 What will you take away?
At the end of the day, you’ll have:
✔️ Your completed Sensory Thumbprint® Assessment workbook
✔️ A clearer, personalised understanding of your or your child’s sensory processing
✔️ Greater insight into what may be contributing to sensory fatigue, overwhelm or everyday difficulties
✔️ Practical recommendations relevant to your individual profile
✔️ Greater confidence in understanding what support may be needed, when it may be needed and why
✔️ Time to ask questions and explore your individual circumstances in a small, supportive group
And importantly, you don’t need to have any previous knowledge of sensory processing to take part.
Who is this for?
This workshop may be particularly helpful for:
🌱 Parents wanting to understand their child’s sensory differences in greater depth
🌱 Adults wanting to understand their own sensory processing
🌱 Parents who feel they have tried lots of strategies but don’t really understand why they are needed
🌱 Families wanting a more individualised approach to sensory support
🌱Teachers of SENCo’s wanting to lean specific skills to better determine and manage needs and supports at school
🌱Anyone who wants to move beyond simply collecting sensory strategies and develop a better understanding of the person behind the sensory profile
As an OT and SEN parent myself, I know how valuable it can be to move from “What strategy should I try?” to “What is this person actually telling me about what they need?”
