About this Event
To mark this milestone, Professor Nicholas Bloom (Stanford University) will deliver the 60th Anniversary Peston Lecture on “The economic impact of Brexit: should we have listened to the experts?”
It has been 10 years after the UK voted to leave the European Union. At that time over 20 different economists, banks, policymakers and pundits made predictions on the impact. So, who was right and who was wrong? How did the experts fare vs the policymakers? Using massive new micro and macro data from a project involving the Bank of England, Nottingham and Stanford we will see the full impact of Brexit on GDP, investment and employment, and compare that to the predictions made a decade ago.
This special evening will bring together our students, staff, alumni, and partners to reflect on our past and look ahead to the future.
