About this Event
We work with Sandra, who has been integral to developing our new garden. We've focused on including plenty of local natives, and between the indigenous bushfood garden and the native plantings sits a market-style selection of beds, inclusive of cultural greens. In others we're playing with plant breeding, choosing varieties we're curious about and want to experiment with. We're developing some flower beds too.
Amid all this careful work, what matters most is the storytelling that happens along the way, the way we support each other, and the healing that comes through time spent in the garden. Sandra brings a lifetime of experience, and working with her is a chance for intergenerational learning and the kind of storytelling that's easily taken for granted these days. Together we'll explore how story and resilience grow from learning across generations, having a play, and experimenting together.
Join us for a walk, a chat and a lunch.
This event is part of Growing Healthy Communities, a series that brings people together around food in Carlton. Every event is a chance to share a meal, meet new people and make friends. Some come along on their own, others with a friend, and everyone leaves with something in common. Through food, culture and connection, we also explore what a secure food system looks like and how we can build one together. The program is designed mainly for university students, and everyone in the Carlton community is welcome.
Growing Healthy Communities is funded by VicHealth.
