This unique 5-day desert trek immerses us in prehistoric art, geology, and the timeless landscapes once navigated by Touareg traders.
From our base in Djanet , we’ll hike ancient caravan routes through valleys and wadis, visiting sites such as the Tin Essou rock engravings , the cliffs of El Berdj , and the mysterious “Hunter’s Period” rock art near Moul Naga – including the famous Hedgehog Rock . The journey culminates at the towering dunes of Tin Merzouga , reaching up to 300m high, where we’ll camp beneath a spectacular Saharan sunset. On our final trek, we pass through Oued In Djaren , home to arches, cliffs, and the iconic Weeping Cow engraving at Tigharghart .
Between hikes, we’ll relax at desert camps under star-filled skies, enjoy authentic Algerian meals, and end with time to explore the souks of Djanet before flying back via Algiers .
This is an adventure of raw beauty and history – a chance to step into a world that feels like another planet.
