What does Emily Dickinson have in common with Lewis and Clark? Not much. Except through her poetry, she too described "objects worthy of notice."
Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to Meriwether Lewis,
"Given under my hand at the city of Washington, this 20th. day of June 1803," concerning his mission to explore the Missouri River, directed him to collect and to conduct a scientific survey on "objects worthy of notice," including plants, animals, birds, soil, minerals, and climate.
Join us on the "Second Sunday" in November for a look at some of Dickinson's poetry of nature.
