Turn a simple piece of wood into a work of art! Join artist Miriam Gutierrez for a hands-on workshop in wood burning, also known as pyrography, the art of drawing with heat to create designs, patterns, and images on natural wood. You’ll start by learning how to safely use a wood burning tool and explore how different tips, pressures, and speeds create a range of lines, textures, and shading. Then you’ll sketch or transfer your own design onto a wood piece and slowly bring it to life, layer by layer. Whether you love botanical designs, lettering, patterns, or something entirely your own, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind piece to display, use, or give as a gift.
What you’ll do:
You’ll learn wood burning safety and tool basics, practice creating lines, textures, and tonal shading, transfer a design onto wood, and complete a finished pyrography piece to take home.
