YULE SEASONAL SPELLS WORKSHOP After the wonderful popularity of my last Seasonal Spells class, I knew I wanted to create another gathering for us.
This time we will be embracing the magic of Yule, with a slightly longer session so that we have time not only to create, but to slow down, connect and share some beautiful ritual blessings together.
Yule falls at the darkest turning of the year, around the Winter Solstice, when our ancestors marked the return of the light and the gradual lengthening of the days. It is a season filled with old customs of protection, blessing, evergreen life, fire, hope and renewal.
During our time together we will explore herbs, crystals and oils associated with the season, discovering some of their traditional folklore and magical uses and how we might work with them in our own seasonal practice.
We will also be creating our own witch balls and witch bells.
Witch balls have a fascinating history. Glass balls were hung in homes and windows as protective charms, with later folklore associating their reflective surfaces and intricate interiors with confusing, trapping or repelling unwanted influences. Over time they became entwined with folk magic and the idea of protecting the home from ill wishes and troublesome spirits.
Bells also have a long relationship with protection and ritual. Across European folk traditions, the ringing of bells has been associated with cleansing a space, driving away harmful influences and marking sacred or significant moments. Today, what many of us call witch bells continue that spirit of household protection, often hung near a doorway as a charm of blessing and guardianship.
We will take inspiration from these old traditions while creating something personal and meaningful for our own homes.
There will be spells, seasonal magic, ritual blessings and beautiful things for you to make and take home with you, carrying a little piece of our Yule gathering into your own celebrations.
Most of all, this is a class for learning, creating and spending time with like minded souls. A chance to step away from the rush of the season, gather together in the darkness of winter and welcome the returning light.
Come and share a little Yule magic with me.
