Scriptwriting Workshop: Story, Character & Dialogue
This beginner friendly series of three scriptwriting workshops is for anyone who wants to explore the building blocks of a great script. Whether you’re completely new to writing or looking to develop your existing skills, you'll be taken through story, character and dialogue using practical writing exercises and creative discussion.

Week 1 - Story | 21st October
Where do stories come from? We’ll explore how a simple idea can grow into a compelling narrative, looking at premise, conflict and structure. You’ll learn how to shape your ideas into scenes and, by the end of the session, you’ll have the beginnings of a story and practical tools to keep developing it.
Week 2 - Character | 28th October
What makes a character feel real? We’ll explore how to create memorable characters with their own needs, flaws and quirks, and how their choices can drive a story. Through practical writing exercises, you’ll start bringing your own characters to life.
Week 3 - Dialogue | 4th November
What makes dialogue feel natural, and how do we make it engaging? We’ll explore how to write conversations that reveal character, create tension and move a story forward. You’ll experiment with different approaches to dialogue and develop a scene of your own.
No previous scriptwriting experience is needed - just bring your ideas and a willingness to have a go!
