A New York Times bestseller by Beaufort resident Matthew Quick, The Silver Linings Playbook was adapted into the Oscar-winning film starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. It tells the riotous and poignant story of Pat Peoples, who returns home after years in a neural health facility determined to rebuild his life and win back his estranged wife, Nikki.
The movie was nominated for 8 Academy Awards, and Jennifer Lawrence won as Best Actress.
When Pat meets Tiffany, a tragically widowed and clinically depressed woman, she offers to help reconnect him with Nikki—if he agrees to give up football, compete with her in the Dance Away Depression competition, and keep their unusual arrangement secret. As Pat searches for his “silver lining,” Quick takes us inside his distorted yet endearing perspective in a funny, touching story about depression, love, and the possibility of a happy ending.
STUDENTS: You must show valid Student ID at check-in. Please note this movie is rated R.
Matthew Quick will introduce the movie. For more with Matthew, grab tickets to his full interview on Saturday 10/24 at 1PM.
