What kinds of shapes can molten metal create when it meets water?Join us at Tucson Jewelry School for Scrap Casting in Water, a hands-on jewelry-making class where you’ll explore water casting by pouring molten metal into water and discovering the organic forms that emerge.
Each casting develops its own shape, often resembling a lily, an exploded flower, or another soft, organic form. Because the process is naturally unpredictable, no two results are guaranteed to look exactly alike.
This class is Skill Level: All and welcomes makers across skill levels who are curious about casting and finding another creative use for silver. You may bring your own silver scrap or purchase grain in class.
Your instructor, Kim St. Jean, is Tucson Jewelry School’s resident artist and has more than 25 years of experience teaching jewelry making. She’ll guide you through the water-casting process as you explore what happens when molten metal is introduced to water.
