About this Event
For five decades, Brown has shown that quality and character stay relevant as the times change. A prolific songwriter, dynamic vocalist, challenging author, international missionary, worship leader, and Christian music pioneer, he has left an indelible mark on Christian music.
His signature is on no fewer than nine No. 1 singles on the Adult Contemporary and Inspirational charts. His songs have been recorded by Sandi Patty, Amy Grant, Bill Gaither, Mark Lowry, Bruce Carroll, Pat Boone, The Imperials, Petra, and opera star Plácido Domingo, on his album with John Denver. Brown’s music has pushed fellow musicians toward greater excellence and moved audiences toward a deeper understanding of the call that has taken him to more than 50 countries with the Gospel.
His journals record covert missions behind the Iron Curtain and the first publicly promoted Christian music event in the U.S.S.R. At that August 1989 concert, more than 15,000 Soviets heard a passionate cry for love and compassion, and the Spirit moved some 2,000 to join the family of Christ. Brown later stood side by side with East German brothers and sisters as the Berlin Wall came down, another victory for the Kingdom. He has taken more than 100 musicians on mission trips and has provided hundreds of musical instruments to musicians and missionaries in developing and restricted-access countries.
Brown understands the church and the family as well as the global mission. He is ordained through the Southern Baptist Church and serves as a teaching pastor for The Legacy Coalition’s grandparenting ministry, training Christian grandparents to be “Intentional.” He has also produced two albums for Legacy featuring songs by Michael Card, Dallas Holm, Steve Green, Bruce Carroll, Bob Bennett, Leon Patillo, Wayne Watson, and the late Chuck Girard.
Brown’s classics include “He Will Carry You,” “This Is the Day (A Wedding Song),” “I Wish You Jesus,” “This Little Child,” “Grace Alone,” and “Please Don’t Send Me to Africa!”
Scott has written four books. The newest two, The Gospel According to the Hymns and The Gospel According To Psalms, Hymns & Christian Songs, take an in-depth look at the history and theology behind the hymns and contemporary worship songs. Both are available on Amazon.
Tickets are $30.00 in advance and $40.00 at the door. Seating is general admission and doors open at 6:30 PM.
Concessions, merchandise and Mr. Chipper's fresh-baked cookies will be for sale during the concert. The Music Factory is located on the 2nd floor of a non-handicap accessible building and there are some stairs to climb.
