Join us for our next Science, Chilled & Distilled at Cancer Bridges (2816 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh). We’ll hear from Marija Balic, MD, PhD, breast cancer clinician and researcher at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Balic is Professor of Medicine, Chief Medical Breast Oncology, and Co-Director of the Breast Cancer Program and Women’s Cancer Research Program at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, as well as Scientific Director for Translational Research of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), a pioneering, Pittsburgh-based clinical research network that conducted large, randomized clinical trials to determine how breast and colorectal cancers should be treated.
Dr. Balic studies how molecular signals in blood and tumor tissue can reveal whether breast cancer is responding to treatment, predict recurrence, and help doctors select more effective personalized therapies.
During this event, Dr. Balic will discuss the groundbreaking innovations that originated in Pittsburgh that have helped shape today’s standard of care in breast cancer treatment and highlight some of the discoveries and advances – including her own – that continue to transform patient care.
Whether you're a science enthusiast, a curious learner, or someone who believes in the power of innovation to drive change, this event is for you!
