About this Event
🔬 Welcome to Elk Grove Science Café! Held around the world, Science Cafés are monthly conversations that make science accessible for all. While this is geared for adults, all ages are welcome!
☕ This month's topic is Histotechnology: How Biopsies Become Diagnoses. With Elizabeth Rich, Regulatory Affairs Coordinator at Dignity Health, learn how surgical tissue specimens are turned into microscope slides and discover the various tests that help pathologists determine a final diagnosis.
🎙 From our speaker: I graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Animal Biology. I began working in Histotechnology in 2016, starting with veterinary histopathology and moving into human healthcare after 6 years in the veterinary world. Currently, I am the Regulatory Coordinator and Lead Histotechnologist for the Dignity Health regional histopathology lab, which serves 7 Dignity Health hospitals throughout the Sacramento region.
Curiosity sparks. Facts illuminate. Let’s explore science together!
