What actually drives the idea that faith and the sciences are at war?Join ISCAST in Adelaide for a public talk by Dr Nick Spencer, presented in collaboration with Tabor College and A Rocha.
The belief that the sciences and religion are locked in permanent conflict is one of the most durable stories of our age. It leads many people to assume they'll eventually have to choose between the two. Nick will look beneath the familiar flashpoints at the deeper, more interesting disagreements the conflict story has been hiding.
Nick is a senior fellow at Theos, a UK think tank on religion and society, and the author of "Magisteria: The Entangled Histories of Science and Religion". He also presented the BBC Radio 4 series "The Secret History of Science and Religion".
All are welcome. No background in science or theology is needed. Pizza, tea, and coffee will be provided.
