About this Event
What is the Research Conference?
'The School of Medicine Research Conference is a brilliant opportunity for staff, students and members of our wider research community to come together and share the innovative research that is taking place. In addition to the keynote speakers who will be presenting on the day, we will have presentations from ARU staff, students and clinical academic trainees, providing an opportunity to find out about active research projects at the School of Medicine.
Speakers and Talks
We are pleased to announce that for our 2026 conference, ‘ARU School of Medicine Research Conference: Research for Inclusive Healthcare’, Sir Michael Marmot will join us to give our opening keynote address. Sir Marmot is Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London and Director of The UCL Institute of Health Equity.
Further Details
The conference abstract calls for oral presentations and posters will be announced shortly. We will be looking for abstracts from a wide range of medical students, physician associate students, resident doctors with an interest in clinical academic training, ARU staff and colleagues from our partner groups/institutions. If you think your research would be relevant to our conference audience and would like to be contacted on how to submit an abstract please email [email protected].
There will be an opportunity for all students, resident doctors and post-graduate learners to compete for an academic prize, in categories related to the oral and poster presentations. Posters will be on display during the lunch period in the School of Medicine foyer. Further details regarding this will follow.
There will also be plenty of opportunity to network and consider how we can foster new approaches to inclusive healthcare and strengthen our research outputs going forward.
Conference Support
We are also planning to organise a committee group to support specific research conference activities. We are looking for volunteers to fulfil roles such as scoring academic posters and chairing workshops and would be grateful for any support you can provide. The call for conference committee members will be released shortly. If you are less experienced at chairing conference workshops but would like to be involved, please apply anyway because we may be able to partner you with someone more experienced so you can learn from this opportunity.
