Our Tackers Learn to Sail programs are back at WSC, giving kids aged 7–12 the chance to get out on the water, learn new skills and have a whole lot of fun along the way.

🌊 Tackers 1 — Having Fun
For beginners & kids with little or no sailing experience
Over four days, kids will learn the basics of sailing through games, activities and plenty of time on the water. They’ll learn to steer, tack, gybe, sail around a course and build confidence in a small boat — all with plenty of support from our experienced
instructors.
At the end of the course, participants receive their Tackers 1 completion certificate and can progress to Tackers 2.

⚓ Tackers 2 — Tips & Techniques
For kids who have completed Tackers 1
Ready to take the next step? Tackers 2 builds on the skills learned in Tackers 1, introducing new techniques and giving kids the opportunity to become more independent sailors, with support and supervision from our instructors.
They’ll work on sailing courses, tacking, gybing, boat handling and manoeuvres — including 360° and 720° turns!
Participants receive their Tackers 2 completion certificate and can continue their sailing journey with Tackers 3.

Prerequisite: Kids must be water confident. Tackers 2 participants must have completed Tackers 1 or have the equivalent skills and experience.
What to bring: Hat, sunscreen, watersports clothing, towel, change of clothes, reef shoes/sailing booties, plenty of water, morning tea and lunch.
