About this Event
This course is for anyone with an active (or within the grace period) Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness EMT, EMT, and/or First Aid Certification who is hoping to use their skills an outdoor context and potentially working with other responders of various certifications and skill levels.
Good risk management, group leadership and prevention often means we are not using our medical skills that frequently and since these skills are all muscle memory they can fade quickly! This Scenario Day is brought to you by popular demand. This day will not yield certification, but will serve as a day to practice the hands-on skills at your scope of practice. There will be chances to learn from and teach each other, practice on different bodies and using different techniques, make mistakes, get feedback and ask questions.
Prepare for a day of teamwork, problem solving, fake blood, bruises, bones, and putting your skills to work! You will get opportunities to get and recieve feedback from classmates and work with people of various skill levels as would likely happen in the backcountry in real life.
When Registering:
- There are a couple slots reserved at a discounted price for low income students who are LGBTQIA+, women, and/or BIPOC students, please use this selection if that sounds like you and it will allow you to take this course, otherwise please save those slots for students who could use the financial accessibility to practice their skills
Refunds will only be offered for cancellations 2 weeks before the course start date.
