About this Event
Scamps Comedy returns to Wicked Axe in Haverhill with a fantastic show featuring headliner Chris Dimitrakopoulos, aka Chris D., a Greek-American comedian from Peabody whose bits about his quirky, immigrant family and unique perspective on the world have helped him stand out among New England's rising comedy talents.
He is joined by a great cast of comedians including Haverhill's own Dave Decker, Janet McNamara, host Dan Donahue and special guest Matt Kaye. Showtime is 8:30, and tickets are just $15 in advance on line, $20 at the door (cash only).
Chris D. has been a standout at The Hampton Beach Comedy Festival, The Beantown Comedy Riots, The Boston Comedy Festival, and The Burbank Comedy Festival in LA. In addition to regularly opening for national headliners like Juston McKinney and Lenny Clarke, Chris once held the prestigious title of “Comic in Residence” at the famous Comedy Studio in Cambridge. He was chosen by Showtime producers to be the East Coast warm-up comic after his appearance on Rob Gronkowski’s Unsportsmanlike Comedy. He also popped up in a hilarious altercation on the popular A&E program Live PD.
Winner of the coveted 1975 Betty Crocker Award Dave Decker, a Haverhill resident, brings his distinct point of view to the stage in a way that both engages and charms audiences. Decker has performed at clubs from Boston to New York City, and broke into theaters with well-received performances at the Shea Theater in Turners Falls and the Ioka Theater in Exeter, N.H. His intelligent and clever humor, along with a unique stage presence, makes him one of Boston's comedians to watch.
Janet McNamara is a Boston-based comic with a conversational style and awkwardly charming energy. The former finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival contest, McNamara won the 2014 BeanTown Comedy Riots and has been featured in the Hampton Beach Comedy Festival, Boston’s Women in Comedy Festival, the Ashville Comedy Festival and Burbank Comedy Festival. You might also recognize her as being the 'Golden Idol’ winner for the worst audition of American Idol season 10, an appearance that introduced a national audience to her joie de vivre and infectious energy. McNamara doesn’t speak French.
Host Dan Donahue is an electrician by day, fast-progressing Boston comedian by night. Much of his humor comes from his experiences on the job. He has performed on Scamps Comedy-produced shows around New England as an opener and host, working with comedians including Juston McKinney, Mike McDonald, Christine Hurley, Paul Nardizzi and more.
Special guest Matt Kaye is a rising comic in the Boston comedy scene. Refusing to allow Covid to cancel his comedy career (unlike his wedding), he worked hard during the pandemic, expanding his act along with his waistline. With a background in finance/accounting, he spends his mornings tracking financial markets and his days blowing through his Weight Watchers points by lunch. Kaye was a Finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival and regularly performs at clubs and theaters all around New England including the Comedy Studio and ImprovBoston.
