he Santa Barbara Jazz Society is excited to bring beloved local singer Lois Mahalia to our stage for the first time! Lois is a highly versatile and vivacious Guyana-born singer-songwriter and musician known for her exceptionally wide vocal range and captivating, soulful stage presence. Her music seamlessly blends elements of gospel, R&B, jazz, pop, and reggae. She began performing at just 5 years old, touring around the Caribbean where she grew up singing alongside her family in churches and local venues. In her early teens, her family moved to Brooklyn, New York, before eventually finding their way to California. For decades, Mahalia has been a sought-after professional vocalist and touring artist. She has performed, recorded, and shared global stages with an array of legendary musicians such as Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Luis Muñoz, Joe Cocker, Steve Perry, Mike Campbell, and Joe Sample. Lois will regale us with great jazz classics!
