It’s been a minute, to say the least, since I released a new album. In the many years in between, I’ve become a mom—twice—a lifelong dream come true. I’ve lived in three different houses and started my own real estate business. I’ve also, sadly and very unexpectedly, said goodbye to two of my closest kindred spirits: my dad, Rod, and my cousin Kimi. They were my confidants, had been part of my life since birth, and were two people I thought I’d have more time with.
The highs have been high, and I feel honored every day to live this life. But the lows have been devastatingly low. Through it all, music has helped me find a way forward. You’ll hear that process unfold in each of the songs on this album, Kindred.
I’m fortunate to play in a band with an amazing group of 'sonsabitches' whom I appreciate dearly. The music may have slowed down, but it never stopped—and I’m so grateful for that. In one of my new songs, “Gold,” I write, “everyone copes and gets along, my way is through song.” In the lyrics, I invite everyone to join me in a therapeutic hum as we pause together and think of our loved ones. I can’t wait to experience this song live with an interactive audience. It’s going to be magical.
Art is a true form of healing. It’s energy, compassion, and inspiration. I thank the stars every day for my beautiful family and the wonderful friendships that have supported me through both the forest fire and the new growth.
This project has been shelved for the last time, and I’m beyond excited to finally share Kindred with you, my loving and supportive community. Thank you for listening, for sticking with me, and for giving these songs a place to land.
Here’s to the music, the healing, the people we carry with us, and whatever comes next.
