The Savannah Bananas – the fun-loving, twist-the-rules, modern-day clown princes of baseball - are returning to Cleveland to play their fun baseball game. The Bananas will play the Indianapolis Clowns at Progressive Field on Sept. 26. Party Animals vs. Clowns!
A baseball player on stilts hits and runs bases. The umpires dance! There are group dances! These are athletes who play ball and have fun.
Banana-ball rules are creative, to say the least: The team with the most runs in an inning gets a point, winning the inning – except for the final inning, when all runs count. If the hitter steps out of the box, it’s a strike. No bunting is allowed, but batters can steal first on a passed ball or wild pitch. And in the effort of time constraints, no mound visits are permitted, and a two-hour time limit is in place. In what might be the most interactive rule in any sport, if a fan catches a foul ball, the batter is out.
This is a save the date event now. We are on the official fan first LOTTERY with two submissions and two confirmations. There is no guarantee if you RSVP that you’ll be allowed to buy a ticket. The tickets usually sell out in minutes. So it’s not like we’ll have a link.
