About this Event
Sathnam Sanghera, author of Empireland and The Boy With The Topknot, joins us to launch his new book, a celebration of the iconic singer George Michael, Tonight The Music Seems So Loud.
Combining biography and critical study, Tonight The Music Seems So Loud sees Sathnam grappling with the life and legacy of a man who was larger than life, and lived loudly and fully. Nearly ten years after his death, George Michael's shadow still looms large over British music, and Sathnam Sanghera tells the story of his background, his global musical domination, his addiction issues and legal troubles, and the presssures on him from fans, tabloids, and society as a gay man with an immigrant background in imitable style.
Sathnam joins us to discuss the musical legacy of George Michael, the parallels from his story to society today, and whether there can be another George, before signing copies of his books.
